This cottage needed huge amounts of renovation, restoration, and decoration – all within a tight budget. In the living area, which boasts an incredibly high ceiling, we used layers of prints and textures, including painting the fire surround a deep lacquer red which captured the eye and artificially separated the two ends of the room. We had a lot of fun sourcing art and antiques which had to marry up the owner’s vast collection of objects d’art and keepsakes collected from their travels all over the world. It’s a house which has plenty of stories to tell and has the flexibility to evolve and adapt as the family life changes over coming years.
